We Restore Abandoned Cars
At
Select® Motor Company we restore
abandoned cars. No, not the junk left on the
side of the highway.
We're talking about your car!
The one you took apart in your garage or the one
a collision shop offered to restore and later
hoped you would forget about. As they now
realized the scope of what they had offered.
So, if
your restoration has been hijacked by time or
"good intentions" we can make your project our
mission.
Oh yea, if your car isn't
on the abandoned list, we'll restore it too!
We can do as much or as little as you
like.

Restoration Projects
1950
Buick 8 Special
1949 Ford Woody Wagon
The styling
and engineering of a forgotten era
produces the most intriguing
vehicles when fully restored.
A restored vehicle gives you
a "right now"
view of a previous era and
drives your imagination without
asking it to fill in so many blanks.
Recently, restored at
Select Motor Company in Ball,
Louisiana, are two cars that fit
this description; the first is
an all original 1949 Ford Woody
Wagon and the other is a 1950
Buick Special Sedanette; with a
few modifications.
Aside
from the typical restoration
challenges a car has to offer,
by being over 50 years old,
these two cars have the unique
challenge of not having a vast
reproduction industry to turn to
for parts, as would be the case
with a Mustang or Camaro. This
isn't to suggest that the parts
are not out there. They are. You
simply have to find the avenues,
as our "vintage project manager"
does. He often looks to the one
man shops reproducing parts by
hand and to those guys out
there collecting used and NOS
parts, usually out of a labor of
love.
Our "vintage project
manager" approaches vehicles
such as these with a different
agenda than do the "custom
project managers" in our shop
working on custom builds.
Rather than
internalizing and looking to
produce a vehicle that is
uniquely different, he compiles
as much history, original
examples and information about
his project as possible. He is a
vehicle historian.
The parts network he has
put together from joining forums
and conducting business in
countless projects becomes the
life blood of his restoration.
One of Select Motor
Company's suppliers that would
fall into this niche parts
business model is our door plate
reproducer.
Both the Woody and the Buick
have hand built door sill plates
which are exact reproductions of
the originals. This is a not so
obvious detail that delivers
that restored "new car"
look and fills in one more
blank.
Our
"vintage project manager"
understands the customer who
wants his vehicle restored with
factory interior wood grain
paint, flawlessly duplicated,
hand built door sill plates and
color code correct cloth
insulated wiring, over the top
of vinyl these days.
Our "custom project
manager" understands the
customer who wants his vehicle
built with a custom chassis,
retrofitted suspension,
programmable digital fuel
injection, custom sheet metal
and paint.
We at Select Motor
Company can deliver any
variation of original
restoration and custom building
to your liking. We can translate
your vision into a show winning
reality.

Window Tint Removal |

Automotive Window Tint Removal
The
problem with stick-on window tint film is that
eventually it fades, becomes scratched and ragged at
the edges.
Removing old tint is sometimes as easy as pulling it
off.
Many times the tint is old enough and baked on
enough it just won't peel off in sheets.
In these situations park your car in the shade.
Spray the window film with soapy water and cover the
soapy water with cellophane wrap.
The window tint film is permeable and will soak up
the soapy water and become soft.
Remove the cellophane and peel the tint off before
all of the soapy water dries but has had time to
soak in.
Pull back the top of the cellophane and re-soak the
window if necessary.
Your bottle of soapy water and razor blade will come
in handy to remove any glue still hanging on to the
window.
