1967 Mustang GTA Resto Mod
It wasn't anybody's intentions to
build a Mustang with more acronyms than the
Department of Justice, it just happened that way.
You see, this GTA has a TCI AOD, R&P, DFI, MP3,
GPS, AM/FM CD, PS, PB, PW, PL, AC, COS, a LED TBL,
COS and of course IRS.
Even from birth this car packed GTA emblems, which
translates out to be a "Gran Torismo Automatic'.
From the get go on this restoration, it was planned
to install an IRS
 or
"Independent Rear Suspension" out of a 2004 Mustang
cobra. To accentuate the 3:50 gears in the IRS,
while in 1st gear and relax it down to a fuel
friendly ratio at highway speeds, we looked to a
Ford "Automatic Overdrive Transmission" or AOD from
TCI.
Our customer's power plant of choice was a 345
horsepower 302 crate engine from Ford Racing.
 Induction
on our crate engine would be a BBK Performance
plenum. Injection would be controlled by
Accel's DFI or "Digital Fuel Injection."
The front suspension would be upgraded with COS
or "Coil over Struts" by RRS or "Revelation Racing
Supplies"
Rack and Pinion steering from RRS was also
added. With the factory disc brakes on the cobra
IRS and large front disc brakes supplied from RRS,
our GTA now has "Four Wheel Disc Brakes" or 4WDB.
Modifications to the interior included three point
restraints front and rear and LED, "Light Emitting
Diode", TBL or third brake light in the rear deck
to match the LED tail light upgrade. The upholstery
was updated with custom leather seat covers built
to hold custom seat foam with added bolsters on the
sides of the cushions.
Electronics include a Dakota Digital - Digital
shift indicator , an Alpine stereo with a 50
gig memory MP3 player, a Garmin "Ground Position
Satellite" system or GPS that provides the driver
with maps and retailer information including
restaurants, gas stations and more.
The caliber of this car amazed all who gazed at it
and shocked a few not expecting a coupe to be so
well endowed.
This truly was a car that spanned all generations
with responses of neat, sweet, and OMG!
