SCAMP (skamp)
1. A rogue; a rascal.
2. A mischievous youngster
Seeing the success Dodge was enjoying with the Dart Swinger, Plymouth introduced
the Scamp in 1971. Unlike the Dart, it was never offered in a four-door version,
nor was a convertible or station wagon version made. It was targeted at the
conservative buyer who wanted the sporty look of the 2-door without getting into
a larger car.
This hardtop Scamp is a brilliant Curious yellow. The black bumble-bee stripe
really stands out when surrounded by the bright yellow background. The tuxedo
black interior is clean, refreshed and the bucket seats make for an extremely
comfortable ride. The rims are Mopar rallye.
This Scamp is sporting a high performance 340ci and numerous other go fast
goodies. The aluminum Wieland high rise intake and an Edelbrock carburetor feed
the fuel to the powerplant as necessary. The ignition is converted to electronic
and the fire is made hotter by an MSD blaster coil. Headers are also installed
to help the H.O. 340 breathe more freely.
Similar to a racecar cockpit, the driver is surrounded by gauges. The Autometer
monster tach, shift light, oil pressure, amp., water temperature, and an
exterior mounted fuel pressure gauge are all updated to maintain controlled
chaos from behind the wheel. The automatic transmission is controlled by a
floor-mounted B&M ratchet shifter. As a precaution, a drive-shaft safety yoke is
also in place.
This Scamp is easy on the eyes and easy on the wallet. Asking price $9,900.00
